N5X Summit 2026 Agenda [ENG]

The N5X Summit 2026 will provide a comprehensive overview of central counterparty market models, covering everything from international case studies to the strategic details of clearing operations.

The third edition of the N5X Summit is officially scheduled: September 17, 2026, in São Paulo.

Over two years, the event has gathered the institutional weight of regulators, global banks, power generators, energy trading companies, and large consumers. These include major players such as ABRACEEL, ANEEL, Axia, B3, Central Bank of Brazil, BNP Paribas, Bradesco, Casa dos Ventos, CCEE, CVM, EEX Group, Elera, Hydro, Santander, Shell, Statkraft, and XP.

This year, the debate advances to the day-to-day functioning of clearing within the free energy market. Panel discussions will focus on topics such as the evolution of market design with a central counterparty (CCP), its impacts on price formation and liquidity, alongside global benchmarks from the EEX Group.

10:00 AM – [Roundtable] Liquidity, Security, and Market Evolution: The Role of Institutions in the New Sector Design

A discussion focused on the main structural challenges of the energy market in Brazil, bringing different perspectives on ongoing initiatives and foundational projects.

  • On the agenda: The impact of regulatory predictability and legal uncertainty on market participant confidence, the role of institutions in building a robust environment, and pathways to increase liquidity and attract new players.

11:00 AM – [Interview] International Case Study: Japan's Experience in Implementing a Cleared Market 

An interview dedicated to sharing Japan's experience in its transition to a trading model with a central counterparty.

  • On the agenda: The context of the Japanese market prior to clearing, initial market resistance, the impact on price formation and the entry of new investors, and key lessons applicable to the Brazilian context.

2:30 PM – [Roundtable] Clearing Members: Connecting the Energy Market to Global Financial Capital 

A panel to discuss the role of clearing members in enabling markets with a central counterparty, bridging the gap between the energy market and the broader financial system.

  • On the agenda: How banks evaluate opportunities in the Brazilian energy market, the necessary conditions for operating, and what a participant needs to trade in a cleared environment.

4:15 PM – [Roundtable] Default, Collateral, and Systemic Protection: How Clearing Transforms Risk Management 

A discussion on how introducing a central counterparty model can transform the dynamics of risk, liquidity, and stability in the energy market.

  • On the agenda: The limitations of the bilateral model in facing defaults, CCP actions during default scenarios, and real-world international case studies of crisis events.

In the closing session, N5X Co-CEOs will present the regulatory milestones achieved and the market readiness plan for launching clearing operations.
